I have been travelling round the world with my family for 10 months and I have never experienced worse hotel than this. And we are not picky. We can sleep a night basically where ever. Like sleeping in vietnamise train with a group of cockroach.
Sa Cool Mansions location near Don Mueang airport is fantastic and the money spend is compatible compared to other Don Mueang hotels. I suggest seriously that before booking this hotel, take a look first how it looks like.
In Sa Cool Mansion I felt like beeing part of a horror movie. The outlook of the Hotel is so trashy that I even wonder why booking operators (Agoda in my case) take these hotels in their lists. There were also trash and abandoned furniture laying in the staircase. The pool or aquarium(?) was dirty and keeping fish there to me at least equals to cruelty towards animals.
We had two rooms and they were quite clean and beds and aircon were ok. In the other room there were no sink basin at all (it was broken down) and after a while we saw it laying in the corridor with a couple of other ones. In the morning there were no water and when I mention it to staff the reply was somewhat hostal:"Why did'nt you say earlier??". The situation was scary so I did'nt say anything about the sink.
The biggest issue in this hotel total disregard towards maintaining the hotel premises and operations. When you see it, you feel unsafe.
We booked two rooms for our family because the hotel is close to the airport and we had to catch a flight the next day.
The reception was littered with debris, broken concrete and there was a large fridge next to the reception desk that had obviously been leaking. There were moldy towels bunched up around the bottom.
There is a large in ground spa on the way to reception that was 1/2 full of green moldy water and rubbish.
We arrived at midday and the receptionist could barely keep her eyes open and was acting strange. I am pretty sure she was high on drugs. She did not speak any English and was almost impossible to communicate with her.
The rooms looked like concrete bunkers with exposed wiring, the oldest and smallest TV, an ancient couch that sunk to the floor when you sat on it and no wardrobe just a metal bar with some wire coat hangers on it.
Everything was covered in plastic, the light switched, air conditioner and even the bed.
Was moderately comfortable. It had a clean sheet over the plastic covering the mattress. There were two awful single bed quilt covers over the queen sized bed and they stunk of sweat (not ours). The bed head was of course covered in plastic. It was at this stage that I thought the rooms were maybe 'pay by the hour' rooms and it was that kind if hotel.
The bathroom was situated out on the balcony. It was dirty with cracked tiles. The previous occupant had shaved and cut their hair in the sink and the cleaner had kindly left it all there for us!
I decided to have a shower at 9pm after getting back to the room from a day in Bangkok. The water was cold until I discovered the water heater had been turned off! Halfway through my shower, the water suddenly stopped running, leaving me covered in soap and shampoo. There was no water to the bathroom, tap or toilet for the entire night. The water came back on at about 7am.
There is none. The front door is old and warped, so even when locked, you can just jiggle it open. The balcony is easy to access from other rooms and it is clear from all the marks and bent metal on the door, that it has been forced open many times.
The aircon did work.
There were over 200 Chanel's on the tiny TV.
We all got a free cold bottle of water on arrival.
wanted to sleep for just six hours as my flight arrived at late night in suvarnabhumi airport and the other flight was from DMK airport. so this hotel was fine for the price as it was just 2 km. away from the airport.
We missed a flight and had to stay in Bangkok for another night. So, understanding the fact that we were very low on budget and were very tired, 800 bhat for a night in this cosy hotel was more than what we were looking for, compared to the 2,800 bhat airport hotel. Very friendly service with a 'homely' feel. There's a few food stalls nearby and a 7-11. I strongly reccommend this place for people desperately looking for a night stay near Don Muang!
